Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment focusing on the muscles, joints and soft tissues of the body.
Osteopathy
Osteopathy works with the structure and function of the body and is based on the principle that for your body to work well its structure must also work well.
Osteopaths work to restore your body to a state of balance taking a whole body approach. They tailor treatment to each individual’s needs using touch, physical manipulation, stretching and massage to increase the mobility of joints, to relieve muscle tension, to enhance the blood supply to tissues, to help your body’s own healing mechanisms. They may also provide advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring.
A diagnosis is often provided at your first consultation. Your osteopath will discuss it thoroughly with you. If they think further investigations would be helpful, they may refer to a consultant or your GP to get more information before treating you.
